Event Details

This course is for STFC staff only! External registrations will be rejected.

This one day course will be about the basics of HPC, why we use it, what we use it for, how to use it etc., and also an introduction to the different systems we currently have here at the Hartree Centre.

The course will take place in the Brunner-Mond training suite on Wednesday 16 March.  Once registered for the event you will need to register for SAFE to get a user account on one of the systems – in advance.  This is so that a) you can get some feeling for the customer experience and b) so you can get a bit of hands-on experience during the session.

  • Part 1: An overview of HPC and the facilities we have at STFC. The talk will cover both the theory and practical side of HPC.
  • Part 2: HPC workshop. Users will be compiling simple code and submitting jobs to the HPC system(s).

The course will start at 10:00 and break for lunch at 12:00. We will resume at 13:00 and go on until 15:00. No refreshments or lunch are provided at this course.

The session will be very interactive and informal, with lots of hands-on time.

Thank you
John Baker
