Modern Hadron Therapy Gantry Developments

Event Details

'Modern Hadron Therapy Gantry Developments'

To be held on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th January 2014 at the Cockcroft Institute on the Daresbury Science and Technology Campus (Sci-Tech Daresbury).

The following topics will be discussed:

- Recent experience with novel methods in gantries, e.g. scanning systems, dose delivery schemes;
- Projects and ideas to reduce the size or weight of future gantries;
- Interface issues, for example interaction with imaging systems, couch movement etc.

Proposals for contributions should be addressed to one of the workshop organisers, Hywel Owen (Manchester/Cockcroft) or Marco Schippers (PSI); we will be soliciting further contributions to the workshop too.

At the workshop there will also be an opportunity to hear about the two new proton therapy centres to be constructed in the UK, and to visit the Daresbury accelerators, including ALICE and EMMA.

We have funding to support at least some of the travel costs for each organisation represented, the contribution dependent upon our final number of registered participants.

EuCARD-2 is co-funded by the partners and the European Commission under Capacities 7th Framework Programme, Grant Agreement 312453.

Please send requests for accommodation at the Doubletree Hotel, Chester to sue.waller@stfc.ac.uk.
