The 2016 CCP9 Young Researchers Event

Event Details

The 2016 CCP9 Young Researchers’ event will be held at the University of York on July 18 – 19. Please note that this event is inclusive of accommodation & meals. The event will be of interest to PhD students and postdocs involved in studying the electronic structure of condensed matter within the remit of the CCP9 community

The key aims of this event are to

  • Facilitate the growth of the Young Researchers (YR) CCP9 community.
  • Provide an introduction to the various research areas of CCP9.
  • Offer networking opportunities to build support for research and onward career development.
  • Receive YR input into CCP9.

Event highlights include

  • Opportunity to present a pico talk and accompanying poster presentation on your research.
  • Keynote and recently appointed academic presentations detailing background theory and applications. These presentations are specifically designed to inform & inspire the YR community.
  • Q & A panel session on CCP9 YR community & career development.
  • A formal dinner on campus.
  • An opportunity to visit the beautiful and historic city of York situated within walking distance from the University.

Note that registration is required due to the limitation in attendee numbers.

The registration deadline is:  Midnight Sunday July 10, 2016.

Pico talk & poster registration

Pico talk and poster presentation sessions are included in the CCP9 YR agenda. In order to obtain as much as possible from the event, we strongly encourage attendees to give a short oral presentation (pico talk) comprising of one slide on your research, which will also serve as advertisement for your poster. Registration for the pico talk and the poster sessions can be made through the on-line registration form. Please submit the title of your talk/poster at the time of registration.  Please note that a PPT of your single presentation slide is required to be submitted to before the 5pm Wednesday July 13, 2016 deadline.

Accommodation Details

Accommodation will be provided in Alcuin College, University of York, for those who require an overnight stay on July 18. Note there is only a single room option available – please ignore the double room option.
