Vacuum Symposium 7

Event Details

Vacuum Symposium is an annual event run alongside Vacuum Expo.  The symposium is comprised of technical meetings, training courses and posters alongside a commercial exhibition.  This is the 7th year of the symposium which is fast becoming the premier UK vacuum event.   

Meetings

The following meetings are being held at VS7: Technological Plasma Workshop, Vacuum Quality in Plasma Processing, Functional Thin Films and Cryopumping explained... 'its a trap'.

Posters

Everyone (including exhibitors) attending this year’s event is invited to present a poster which may be on work related to any of this year’s meeting topics or any aspect of vacuum in general.

This year theThe IOP Vacuum Group will sponsor Day 1 of the poster session and Leybold Vacuum on Day 2. Posters will be judged on the basis of scientific content, effectiveness of communication and overall appearance.

Would you like to present a poster at VS7?

Then please submit your abstract to sunil.patel@stfc.ac.uk by 1st October 2016, and also specify the day(s) on which you will be presenting your poster.

Posters accepted for this year’s event will be allocated a board in the main exhibition area where they can be viewed by all delegates attending the exhibition. You will be notified in advance of your poster board number.

Posters must not exceed A0 portrait size (1189mm high x 841mm wide). Pins or suitable adhesive tape will be provided on the day.

Posters may be displayed from 10.30am on the 12th and 13th October. Posters must be removed by 6.30pm on the 12th and 4pm on 13th October respectively, unless they are being displayed on both days.

Poster authors should be in attendance by their poster during the lunch break on the day(s) their poster is on display.

Poster prizes will be awarded in the main exhibition area at approximately the following times; (This will be confirmed nearer the time);

Day 1 - 4.30pm

Day 2 - 1.30pm

Training

The following training courses are available:

VTC1 - Vacuum - the Basic Principles

VTC2 - Vacuum in Practice - Atmosphere to High Vacuum

VTC3 - Clean Vacuum and UHV

VTC4 - An Introductory Seminar to Leak Detection

VTC5 - The Design and Fabrication of UHV Chambers

VTC1 & VTC2 are aimed at newcomers to the field, or anyone wishing to brush-up on their knowledge, whereas VTC3 will address ultra high vacuum in more detail.  There are two specialist application courses: VTC4 on “Leak Detection” and VTC5 on “The Design and Fabrication of UHV Chambers”. Places on each course are very limited, so you are encouraged to register early. 

The material is presented in an informal/tutorial style with an effort to address participants needs. A copy of the Training Slides on a CD + a Certificate of Attendance will be presented at the end of the Course.

There will be a maximum number of 25 places at each training event.  Places will only be guaranteed when payment has been received.  It is recommended that courses are paid for by credit card at the time of booking through this registration site.
